The FWCO has decided to attempt to carry on the tradition with our annual Holiday Carol Writing Contest for the 2020-2021 season. This event is open to all 4th-6th grade students, individuals, or collaborations, to compose a Holiday song. The winners and often some runners up have had their songs arranged for voice and full orchestra and performed on our annual Teddy Bear Concert in December.
Obviously our season and the Teddy Bear Concert are in jeopardy at this time, but we still want to offer this event for our community. We will find a way to arrange the winning song and get it performed either live or streaming online – arranged accordingly – no matter how the season unfolds.
We are trying a new approach this year in spreading the word about this opportunity. We ask anyone reading this to forward it to anyone they know who teaches or administers the teaching of music to 4th – 6th grade students in the Greater Fort Worth area (sorry, not Dallas). It can be public schools, private schools, homeschooled kids, or private teachers. The rules, deadlines, and entry forms are in the packet below.
Thank you in advance for your efforts in getting the word out. We are getting a late start on this and we know the teachers are facing their own challenges.
