Calling All Student Musicians through 12th Grade!
The Competition is open to student musicians through 12th Grade who are residents of Tarrant, Parker, Johnson, Hood, Ellis, Wise or Denton counties and play an orchestral instrument or piano. Past first prizewinners are ineligible to re-enter.
Students are required to submit a recording of themselves performing their selected concerto. If chosen from that group, the student will be required to perform a movement of the same concerto live in front of a small panel of judges. There is a small application fee – please download the application below for the amount and where to send it. First prizewinner will receive a $500 honorarium; Second prizewinner receives $250.
FWCO’s Annual Concerto Competition will be held in March 17, 2018. Applications are due February 23, 2018, so apply today!
The competition will be held in Cowden Hall on the campus of the Southestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. The winner will be invited to perform the movement of his or her chosen concerto with the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra at its annual spring concert on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Truett Auditorium at the Seminary. Note: The winner will forfeit the honorarium award if unable to perform at the concert.
