Young Musicians Concerto Competition

Fort Worth Civic Orchestra's Concerto Competition will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 12th, 2023, on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University.

The Competition is open to residents of Tarrant, Parker, Johnson, Hood, Ellis, Wise and Denton Counties. Entrants through 12th Grade will be accepted on any orchestral instrument or piano. Past First Prize winners are not eligible to enter.

Completed entries were due February 25, 2023, but late entries will still be considered this week. Please fill out and submit the completed online application here. The application fee of $30 may be paid by check (payable to the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra mailed to the address below) or via PayPal, Zelle or Venmo using the following QR codes. A tape/CD/ DVD/MP3 of the applicant performing 5 minutes of the chosen concerto movement may be mailed or submitted by link via the online application.

Rules

1. Any work for solo instrument may be submitted that has a commercially available and traditionally accepted orchestral accompaniment.

2. The judging panel reserves the right to reject any work that is deemed inappropriate for the orchestra. Those applications will be returned with the $30 application fee.

3. If the winner is unable to perform in the Season Finale Concert on May 13th , 2023, they will forfeit the cash prize.

 

Invitations to compete in the Competition will be sent by March 6, 2023. The exact date and location of the finals is to be confirmed.  If a date change causes a contestant unable to participate, a full refund will be rendered.

First Prize: $500 and opportunity to perform concerto movement with the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra at its Spring Concert, Saturday May 13, 2023

Second Prize (awarded at panel's discretion): $250
